Some of these topics include marriage, fighting pornography, ending abortion…and getting back to the basics. Yep. Getting back to the basics. It is my desire to (continue to) take my family to a more natural way of living. Over the past few years, I have learned a lot. I’ve learned so much about what’s in many of the foods we eat, the products we use, the things we buy. I’ve realized I was being a poor steward of the body God has given me. One of my favorite phrases is “if you know better, do better.” So, that’s what I’m doing. Slowly, but surely, I’m changing the way we do things.

In our western culture, we daily (sometimes hourly!) put into our bodies foods we have no idea from where they came. This is evidenced by the skyrocketing numbers of Americans who are getting sicker…not better. Did you know many of the illnesses and things we struggle with today are a result of foods we ate yesterday? Things like celiac disease, infertility, food allergies and diabetes are only a few of the symptoms of a far greater issue: what we eat is making us sick. If you’ve never watched a documentary, watch this one. It is so very well done and a really great use of your time today. It’s also only available to watch for free for the next couple of days so don’t put it off!* If you have watched documentaries before, you’ll love this one. I so appreciated how easy the science was to understand and the depth to which they went to help the everyday consumer (us moms!!!) follow along.

See? I knew you’d be affected! Don’t forget to click on there website here to vote for this film! What did you find most fascinating?

LIFE.saving.LIFE.altering!!! Excited to see some personal changes for me and the kids once switched off the GMO’s for a few weeks. Nervous about the switch regarding cost and staying informed so I can buy wisely! Withdraws about all the food I won’t be able to consume as excessively or on a whim while eating out! Did I mention that this was life altering??? 😉 Well, worth it if it turns around my health!!!!! 😀

I recommend watching “The World According to Monsanto”; both informative and ALARMING. I will be watching this one today.

I just watched this and am stunned! I’ve watched all the other food documentaries out there and none affected me so much – saddened me, angered me! Are we even still a free USA??!! – that’s a whole other topic for another day though! I’m a bit overwhelmed and frozen as to how/what changes we’ll be continuing to try to make in our family, but I’m not more than ever, ready and wanting to make those changes for good! And I’m excited to see how I can incorporate my love for couponing with living a more non-GMO, organic lifestyle! =)

I was juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust wondering if you’d seen this yet. It’s shocking, isn’t it? My goal is to not buy GMOs again. I went shopping yesterday and I *think* I did good! It’s so hard, which is part of what’s frustrating, to know exactly which foods have GMO. But I think anything is better than nothing…one step at a time, right? 🙂

The hard part about couponing is that so many items are for processed foods. I go through each coupon thing that comes in the paper and I just don’t find anything I buy. At this point, I don’t buy hardly any cosmetics or personal care products, either. I love making my own soap, toothpaste, etc and it’s just so hard to find coupons for things. 😦 I am eager to see how you do it!!!

This movie looks fascinating! I have made so many small changes in our families diet over the past couple of years that it’s finally amounted to a huge overhaul. Most people probably think we’ve gone totally nuts.

The GMO that’s hardest for me to cut – corn. It’s in everything. Not just the obvious ones like corn syrup, corn starch, etc. It’s even things you don’t think of. White vinegar – made from corn. Citric acid – made from corn. Such a pain!

Trisha, so true! It is frustrating to think you’re doing well and then find out something about what you’re implementing. I try very hard to trust God with wherever we are at on this journey and know that EVENTUALLY we won’t have to worry about this anymore. 🙂
